How the heck do I get a urine sample from my bitch???

I've come away from the vets armed with a syringe and a sample pot, but this is going to be tricky! She will not wee on the lead, or indeed in close proximity to me, so how do I do it? Help!

Fill a tray with shredded plastic bags. She wees in that, the wee can't soak anywhere, and you use the syringe to suck it up and then squirt it into the sample pot.
At least, that's how it works with cats.

Frying pan?

Wait til she really needs to go then get in there with a soup ladle. That's what I did (then bin ladle!)

She won't wee with an audience! It has to be on so or grass as well; no hard, non absorbent surfaces for her. This dog once went for 3 days without going on holiday as there was nowhere I could let her off the lead! If I can't get one she's going to have to be anaesthetised which is rather avoid!

That's where the trick with the shredded carrier bags comes in. It's soft and grassy.

Sneak up on her mid flow...with something you won't need much aim for, an ice cream tub or bigger.

And wear gloves, lol.

First wash and sterilise a plastic takeaway carton. Follow your dog everywhere untils she squats and quickly put said carton between her back legs.

First thing in the morning their bladder is full so once they start they pee for a few moments. Have her on a long line, watch for her sniffing then once she squats quickly approach from behind and pop a ladle or shallow container under her. You don't need gallons, just a centimetre in the bottom of the sample tube will do!

I'm going to have to do some stealth pee catching as she never pees when I'm watching! She likes her privacy, daft bloody dog! No luck so far, holding out hope for the morning wee

Do any of your friends work in healthcare? You could get a urine collection kit from them. You get a pad that you can hold under the stream of water and it absorbs the pee, ready for you to dispense into the pot

Disposable roasting tins... I used to have to get regular samples from late dog. I'd casually slide a roasting tin under him mid wee (he had girls wees lol).

Chinese takeaway tins work as well but they are better when you have a more accomplished aim

Well I've spent hours following her round armed with a disposable roasting tray and no joy :( She will not wee in company! Starting to get bored now!
