Can I get my bitch spayed now?

Didn't get her done when she was younger as I felt she was too small. Plan was for her to have her first season and then do it. She's a cavachon by the way.

I have an un neutered male dog who for various reasons I don't want to neuter. So he had a chemical implant. Lasts six months and had it done at the end of Oct.

Bitch is nine months old and hasn't come into season yet. If she doesn't come into season in the next week he is going to have to have another implant and it costs £90!

Meant to say my fear is she gets spayed just as she's about to come into season which ive heard is dangerous?

I think it's best to have it done when the teats aren't descended as in the two weeks after a heat. For cosmetic reasons. Check with the vet via phone. There'll be no charge.

Aren't un-neutered males more prone to cancer?

My vet says there's no health benefits to neutring a male dog.

He's also very fear aggressive so lowering his testosterone probably isn't the best.

My bitch was done 3 months after Her last season which is when the hormones are at the lowest. Any other time you are potentially going to cause behavioural and health issues for her. I'm surprised you haven't talked this through with a vet already.

The vet offered to do it when she was little but I said I'd rather wait until after her first season and he said to bring her back three months after. So he had been prepared to do it before her first season, I just didn't know if it was too late now.

Looks like other dog will need another implant.
