When did your Collie start settling down from the puppy stage? My gorgeous boy is now 18 months old & slightly calmer than the manic small puppy stage, but he is still very bouncy.

I have had quite a few Collie owners I have met on dog walks mention to me that they saw quite a change in their dog once they got to 2. I was wondering if that was the case in your experience.

We have no particular issues really behaviour wise & have recently graduated on to advanced level at our weekly training classes. Just curiosity really.

My collie x GSD is 5 and still crazy! Although I would say at about the 2-3 stage he started to become a little more sensible. He still looses his mind at the sight of a ball though!

My girl is 10 months old and she is bouncy, very bouncy but I don't think she is any more bouncy than our old Lab/Collie X was. She is intelligent though and loves playing brain games which I think help channel her enthusiasm for life.

My boy is impeccably behaved until he sees a ball on a beach. Then he is hopeless, my lovely dog trainer has actually built into our training classes "how to behave when you see someone else's ball".

Needless to say we normally do fell walking, not too many tennis balls on top of a large hill ;)

Mine has a penchant for deer. And socks. Especially DS's week old stand up on their own work socks, she absolutely loves his socks. Strange, strange dog.

Luckily the command 'Stop!' is working with her deer fetish.

One never really calmed until she was old
Another was about 5? 6?
This one is 3, impeccably behaved at home but I don't trust her when out and have to have my wits about ne

We had a collie growing up - she was calmer by the age of 3 but still went mad around livestock and balls until she was a lot older!

At 5 she jumped out of a moving car to chase a new forest pony Shock training helped a lot but we had to be pretty vigilant to stay in control at times!

:o at jumping out a driving car! I once found my old dog on the roof of our house. She'd climbed out a bedroom window onto a sloping roof extension and was just walking around on it as if it was completely normal.

Then there was the time I saw her on the opposite side of the road and thought, that dog looks exactly like mine. It is mine! Shed unlocked two doors and jumped over a 6ft wall and took herself a walk! She was bonkers :o
