What dry food do you give your labrador?

DDog is a 10 month old labrador. He's currently on Eukanuba large breed puppy but I've been told it's quite fatty. He's a really big boy and I'm keen to not cause any weight issues. Lots of people have recommended Royal Canin but not sure? Would be interested to know what you all think?

I feed our lab Burns.

Our lab is 9 months old and fed on Millie's Wolfheart. He's a lovely size and people often comment on his glossy coat.

My labs and all the lab puppies I have bred have all been fed Simpsons Premium and it's done them really, really well.

I would get him straight onto adult food, I only feed puppy/junior/etc until 6 months while all the most significant growth occurs. Then I like growth to moderate and feed adult from 6 months onwards. All the breeders I know recommend the same thing.

I don't rate Eukanuba or Royal Canin at all.

I've fed and been happy with:

CSJ Wheat gluten free lamb and rice (this is what she is on now- reasonable cost, i get it delivered for 22 per 15kg bag, and decent ingredients)

Fish4dogs

Skinners- F+T duck and rice and crunchy ( oddly just from looking at the ingredients, this was the "least good" of all the things I've fed ddog2, and it did give her slightly soft poo, BUT, her coat and shininess was the best it has ever ever been).

Where do you Millie's lot get it from? Straight from them?

aleto · 24/03/2015 21:27

Millie's has to be ordered through their website. It's free delivery and always arrives in a couple of days.

Ooh that's brilliant, thank you! I did wonder. My local supplier said none of his stockists sell it so I wondered if it was hard to get. I'll just order some myself. You can get little taster pouches can't you? Will try new puppy on it when he has arrived and settled in. Have heard good things about it.
