Dog bed suggestions for elderly lurcher

vjg13 · 21/03/2015 10:16

For my older lurcher, almost 13. He is in good health but can struggle to get up after he has been asleep. Overnight he has a plastic basket with vet bed and fleecy blankets which suits him fine. Just looking for a prettier, practical bed for his day time sleeps in the sitting room.

Have tried flat duvet types, bean bag ones and memory foam off cuts. He does seem to find them harder to get up from but does prefer that room during the day. Have found memory foam and the bean bag type do not last very long either as both lurchers do a lot of digging and repositioning of beds. TIA.

You could try elevating the beds slightly. My dog likes to shuffle his back legs off the sofa so they touch the floor first, then lift just his front legs up (although this may be because he's just bloody lazy).

I think theyre called Hi k9 Beds and they are elevated off the floor

Thanks, we have a very strict no sofa rule but will try one of the hi k9 beds. Or maybe two, one for younger dog too!
