Preparing for new puppy

We are hoping to get a new puppy June/July time (depending on litter size and outcomes of pregnancy!).
I have a few queries that I'm hoping some more seasoned dog owners can answer.
Buying a crate: Do I buy a small one and upgrade when the puppy grows or should I buy one now that will fit adult size?
Feeding: I've been looking into raw feeding but was wondering what you could then use for training treats. I don't fancy walking around with bits of raw liver in my pocket!
Thanks in advance

You either buy a smaller crate and upgrade or get an adult size one and a divider... It's up to you really. (Helpful, lol)

Some people do indeed carry raw meat, others use dehydrated meat...I'd just use normal stuff, cheese, cooked chicken, hot dogs, liver cake and the odd biscuit or whatever.

It just depends how strictly you take raw feeding really, there's no real issue with giving them other stuff as well.

We've always got a small crate for puppies then upgraded the size as they got bigger.

I have a 9 wk old puppy in a small carte and will upgrade when he gets bigger. Have had 3 crates of varying sizes lent to me by people who aren't using them any more, think it's very easy to find one to borrow if you mention to as many people as possible that you are getting a puppy. Our pup is very greedy and can use things like pieces of apple as a training treat.

If you're interested in raw, this is a good website dogsdinner2.webs.com/

Also, join the Raw Feeding UK Facebook group. Lots of info and files, lists of suppliers etc

Small chunks of liver dried out in the oven can be used or some keen people buy a dehydrator which does the job. You can also buy things like this which are not too bad. Depends how strict you want to be...
