One week in....

And we have survived Grin

This time last week we made the 10 hour round trip to pick up our gorgeous rescue pup. He's 4.5 months old, has legs like a gazelle, teeth like a piranha and is a wriggly, squirmy bundle of joy.

So far we have had one sleepless night, no accidents in the house and he has learned to sit, down, give a paw etc. He lets us sleep in until 7.30 am Shock

Our other rescue dog adores him although she has told him off a couple of times which has made him a tad more respectful. We have had dogs for many years but each time a new baby comes along I'm amazed how quickly they learn and adapt. Dogs are amazing things.

He has other littermates in rescue waiting for their forever homes. It was so hard to leave This little girl behind. She is utterly gorgeous and the photo's don't do her justice. It's so hard to just pick one Sad

So, the next few weeks/months will be training, training and more training. I'm not sure he can keep up all this perfection so I may well be back to pick everyones' brains but fingers crossed he's made a good start.

Oh goodness. We are looking for a rescue dog and I keep looking at this one as she's not too far from us.
Do you think she's part of the same litter? AM tempted.
We have a 2 1/2 year old GSD x who is longing for some doggy company.

I think they are litter mates, they were all named after counties and there are a few of them Sad

She really is a beauty! She seemed laid back, really friendly and quite 'elegant' Grin I have had three dogs now from MTAR and all have been amazing, delightful and easy dogs, I know that's not a given but it has been the case for us.

Go see her, go on you know you want to! She really is scrummy.

Opps, I didn't put in the link.

Sorry, she's not the same as the one in your link, but she looks similar.
What breeds do you think she is?

TheOldBoot · 14/03/2015 20:06

I wish I knew! I think there might be a bit of labrador in there and maybe a touch of sighthound? My other crossbreed MTAR dog was the same age and the same size when we got him and he grew to about labrador size, maybe a bit bigger, so we are expecting that. TBH size and shape doesn't really bother us though, what will be will be.

Whatever he is, he is a seriously smart pup. It takes him minutes to learn something using a clicker. This afternoon he has learned high 5 and he's started taking himself out for a wee!

I looked at your link, she is stunning! Everything the fosterer has written about her the same applies to my Dpup. He has come so far in a week it's incredible really. I can't wait to see how he grows but we'll enjoy him being little in the mean time :)
