Mini schnauzer owners - which food?

Just out if interest, what do you feed your mini s and are you pleased with it?

  • is their coat soft?
  • do they smell (coat or breath)?
  • how are their poos?
  • are they calm?

Thanks.

I don't have a schnauzer but I feed my dog raw and love the results.

Soft coat
No smell
Hard, small poos once or twice a day
Relatively calm

If you were feeding raw to a schnauzer I personally would base it on game which is low fat as I believe the breed is prone to pancreatis and high fat food is often a cause of this.

Hi, we've got 3 miniature schnauzers and changed from dry food with tinned meat to raw food at the beginning of January.
Since then we've noticed that their coats are much softer (our eldest who is a particularly itchy dog is no longer itchy), their breath no longer smells and the plaque on their teeth has dramatically reduced. Their poos are a lot smaller and harder (they do a couple in the morning and a couple in the afternoon)
The food hasn't changed their energy levels but we've always considered them to be fairly calm dogs (apart from the guard dog tendancies as any mini schnauzer owner will know!)
Our raw food is from Honeys. It is fairly expensive but we think it's totally worth it ( raw food is proven to reduce health issues/diseases)
