Can you recommend a puppy food?

Hi

Has anybody got a puppy food recommendation? Do you feed dry only or a mixture of wet and dry. Pup's currently on Eukanuba puppy but is not very keen.

Many thanks

We moved kissespup over to Lilys kitchen dry puppy food, went from 5 sloppy poops per day to two firm ones that hardly smell. Also phoned their helpline for portion advice and very helpful. Downside is only a few waitrose stores stock it for trials before you order direct from them.

Ps kissespup is a lurcher x lab but quite pointy hound in her build (and outlook on life at 16 weeks)

eukanuba didn't agree with my boy, he scratched constantly. I moved him onto James Wellbeloved. it really suits him

Millies Wolfheart. They don't have a puppy specific food because their food is such good quality its suitable for pups too.

Lots of varieties to choose from with different high UK quality protien sources. 80/20, 75/25, 60/40, 50/50 etc protien/veg+fruit mixes to suit dogs with different dietry, exercise and energy requirements. Grain, chicken, egg etc free. Supportive facebook group and excellent advice and customer service from small family run UK company.

Millies gave my pup chronic diarrhoea, found their customer service patronising and unhelpful. Was told the runs were his body eliminating previous inferior food - he had been fed raw!
I was then told that they wouldn't exchange a sealed bag for a different variety. Very unhelpful.
Wainwrights seems decent, can pick up from shop, is grain free and reasonably priced.

Or raw feed, most natural option of all Smile

Dry only - autarky puppy food steeped in hot water for 10mins before

Panicmode1 · 20/02/2015 06:58

I'm feeding Rosie Canagan - again there isn't a specific puppy food - she wolfs it down (which she never did with the Eukanuba puppy food she came to us on), but her poos aren't consistently solid....so I'm thinking of moving her again, but not sure to what...

(Interesting about the Eukanuba making your dog itch Gymbob - Rosie was exactly the same)

shutupayaface · 21/02/2015 15:10

Mine had chronic diarrhoea with Eukaneba. I am trying Iams and stools hard for the first time.

Brooki25 · 21/02/2015 15:25

Mine was on James wellbeloved from 6 weeks, was perfect. What is more perfect is harringtons, half the price, basically the same food :)
I have a gsd so very fussy tummy & skin conditions ect but harringtons is gr8

Montagueterrace · 21/02/2015 18:28

Thanks for the suggestions. Ocado seem to stock Harringtons and Lily's so one of those looks like an easy and good option.

Dry food here, Purina Beta Puppy. DDog, 5 months has been fine on it (but stolen cat food tastes better apparently ??)
