Puppies sick after worming😔

Lost my beloved mutt 3 weeks ago after she ate poison out on a walk. Devastated and missing her terribly. Anyways I picked up two pathetic pups (sisters) who had been abandoned in a forest. They spent 3 days in the pound where they were not wormed or vaccinated. My vet did an initial health assessment and deemed them to be essentially in good enough nick if a little undernourished, dirty etc.. On her advice I wormed them with Milbemax last Sunday. On Monday the first one Poppy went off her food and began to vomit and poop yellow bile like substance. Tuesday eve I took her to the vet who ruled out Parvo or any infection, viral or bacterial. We put it down to her having eaten something. Thursday morning I brought her back to the vet dehydrated and still vomiting. She stayed 24 hours there on fluids etc.. She looked much brighter today when I went to visit. She still hasn't eaten in several days although took a couple of mouthfuls this morning at the vets before I brought her home. Second puppy Daisy went off her food yesterday and has vomited a few times and has a runny tum. I'm thinking it has to be the worm burden? The vet says it could possibly be the worms dying and releasing toxins.but I'm wondering has anyone else experienced this in puppies? I feel so sorry for them as they are very glum and un puppy like. Any idea how long before they pick up?
