He's only 5 but we may lose him Sad
Not sure what's happened, he had bad diarrhea last night. Came down this morning- blood everywhere ( from his back end)
Rushed him to the vets, he's still there on IV drips.
Feel so sad and helpless...

Oh god, so sorry. Your poor boy. Flowers

What breed is he?

Hope you get good news tomorrow.

SunshineAndShadows · 09/02/2015 23:12

It sounds like haemorrhagic gastroenteritis though it could also be other things. Poor boy, it can be serious but he's in the best place.

There seems to be a lot of gatro complaints amongst dogs at the moment where I live. My brothers dogs have been violently ill with something similar. I hope he picks up, drips can work wonders.

Thinking of you and your dog. I hope he's had some improvement.

whatsinaname01 · 10/02/2015 22:52

Thank you for your posts.
He's now home much to our relief.
Has a course of antibiotics and a bland diet.
Feeling very sorry for himself but enjoying all the fuss

Phew! We can all breathe again! Well done for acting so quickly! What a relief that must be!

Great news Smile

Our old boy had the same at about that age and I honestly thought we were going to lose him. Came down in the morning to find the same as you. I didn't think he could possibly survive it and it was a bit touch and go for a few days.

It never happened again - he got diarrhoea again but never like that. He's now nearly 13 and still in amazingly good health.

So glad to hear your dog is improving, may he go from strength to strength :)
