home made liver treats?

Does anyone know how I could 'make' some dehydrated type liver treats at home? We got a bag of Lilys Kitchen liver treats at Christmas, 100% liver and these were great but they are just too expensive on my budget. I'd like to make my own at home but don't know where to start!

Would be grateful if anyone has a 'recipe' Grin

I just throw the livers on a baking tray in the over - turn them once and make them well done/quite dry. I was boiling them until cooked them putting them in the oven but it's less stinky just baking :)
Allow to cool then very thinly slice.
I bag them and freeze them, taking them out as I want.

My pup will do anything for a sliver. Anything :)

I made some years and years ago. It stunk out the kitchen and I was left with rock hard lumps of liver. Yuck. Do you use an angle grinder to slice them up, CarbeDiem? You can dry them out in a very very low oven overnight. I haven't bothered and yes they're expensive. For a reason!!!

:) No. They come out fine, soft inside but well done on the outsides. It's really easy to slice them with a sharp knife.

Here you go, OP. Link to old thread on this very subject Smile

I had it on my Watched Threads list so I can find the recipe again.

I made them once and the house stank for weeks! Have stuck to shop bought since then.

Oh thank you for that Drama but that thread is also in my watch list! Its not the cake I'm trying to make but just dried/cooked liver treats. Thank you though Smile

If I could get the Lilys Kitchen ones in the shops I would but nowhere near me stocks them and the delivery charges for LK are just too expensive for me.

I found liver cake too much of a faff and dogs got bored with it.
Really easy just to cook liver in oven on low until you've got it the right consistency, i.e. dry enough to handle and not to hard to cut up.
I tried microwaving but the liver exploded and there were bits everywhere.
