Eric's got a cough

He's as happy as usual, eating well, walked as normal and has now started with a cough and retching. Is it kennel cough? Does he need to see the vet? He is vaccinated although due his booster at the end of the month. Obviously I'll keep him away from his friends but is there anything else I should be doing?

Does sound like kc. Is he sneezing too?? Is he coughing up too???
If he is well in himself I should wait it out but be aware that the shedding of the virus with kc can go on for weeks so stay away from pups and old dogs who are most at risk with kc.

He's not bringing anything up and has only had an occasional sneeze. It came on really suddenly with no warning really because he's been fine in himself. I'll walk him away from other dogs and call the vet if he seems ill then, poor little thing it sounds awful even if he isn't poorly.

I can't remember if Eric is young or old...but seem to remember he is a spaneilly doggy? could be completely wrong.....anyway my dog walkers older spaniel recently caught pneumonia, so do keep an eye on him.

He's thirteen months a poodle shih tzu cross. We're going to nip him to the vet tomorrow mostly because we are going away on Friday and would rather him be seen by the vet he usually sees than end up seeing one whilst we are away. It's probably over cautious seeing as he seems happy in himself but I'd rather be sure that it is kennel cough and not something worrying.

Both my dogs caught kennel cough from a dog in my local park a while back but it was luckily mild version and they only coughed for a couple of days. I spoke to a vet I know in the park and she said the booster is useless and its just like a common cold for dogs. Anti biotics might speed up recovery time slightly but she saw my dogs and said if they were bad enough to need meds they would be constantly coughing which mine weren't so I just kept them away from other dogs and on leads until it cleared up. I gave them childrens benylin and honey to soothe their throats.

Not booster, sorry. I mean the kennel cough vaccination she said is useless and I've heard that from another vet too
