Hi everyone, this is my first post about our Puggle. We bought her a week ago from a family who just didnt suit her.
She is a lovely, lively, energetic and clever wee pup however we do have a couple of issues that I would like to sound out.
The previous owner said she was toilet trained however, it appears not, this doesnt bother us as we are just starting afresh but she has zero indication when she needs to toilet, is this normal? If so how can we encourage her to indicate?
The other issue is unsurprisingly quite acute separation anxiousness. We do understand why this may have manifested, due to the re-homing but we can't know for sure if this is a new behaviour as the previous owner declined to confirm. It is distressing for us to see and hear her being so upset.
She is crated at night and for a period in the morning and afternoon. She is not adverse to the crate it is just being alone or seeing us leave, this can be even just to go upstairs. I should say bedtime in the crate is working fine, she is mostly sleeping through with minimal settling.
So we have been looking at different remedies that you can buy, the vet suggested Adaptil, has anyone tried this?
Any suggestions or advice will be gladly welcomed

She's only been with you for a week so it is very, very early days. Start everything from scratch, house-training, crate training, everything training. You may find a clicker helpful. And a training group. You won't have a clear history if you've re-homed from a family (who in truth probably couldn't be bothered) so you may have to seek professional advice. Perservere!
