Dog safe cleaner for laminate flooring?

ChuffMuffin · 15/01/2015 23:58

Had my gorgeous cheeky (not so) little ten week old rescue puppy for nearly a week now and I must confess, my laminate floor where she sleeps is pretty grim! Blush But what the heck can I use to clean the floor? I'm not a germphobe, just looking for something that'll make it reasonably clean but importantly be safe for Chuffpup. Could I use washing up liquid and hot water?

Interested to hear what you all use!

I swear by our steam cleaner - gets it lovely and clean with no chemicals.

I use ecover multi purpose cleaner with some zoflora added, it's pet safe once dry

Captain, I thought steam cleaners were bad for laminates, don't they wreck the glue or something? If that's not the case I'll use mine gladly :D

I'll have to look out for ecover and zoflora too, thanks!

Hot water vinegar, lemon juice and Detol.

I have to say as an owner of a vets practice our floors are all washed with dilute bleach. It's safe once dilute, cleans well and does a great job.
All standard floor cleaners are safe once diluted in water.

As I understand it, decent quality sealed laminate is ok to steam mop - and we've never had any issues with ours.

But probably worth trying on a discrete area first!

Thank you all for your replies! I seriously doubt our laminate is in any way decent as our house is ex rental and the old LL did cheapest furnishings possible, so I'll be doing diluted bleach I think. Could be worse, though, it could be carpet! Grin

I use a steam cleaner too. Just lots of hot steam... no chemicals needed.

Another one for steam cleaners and zoflora! DDog and a newly crawling baby in the house!
