Your suggestions for games to play with dogs

My dog bores easily (despite two off lead walks a day). I think he needs more mental stimulation. In addition to his twice daily walks he gets one stuffed kong per day and a treat releasing ball to roll around the garden.

Any ideas for short, fun games I can play with him (other than fetch)?

Hiding treats for the dogs to find always goes down well here. You can make it as easy or as difficult as you want.

'101 things to do with a box' is another mine love. It's great for getting them thinking and being creative. I tend to keep sessions quite short, only about 5 minutes a time, but they always seem to find it very satisfying.

Depending how old he is, what about agility?

We hide toys or treats and get him to find them, play tug, do lots of short (2-3 minute) training sessions throughout the day and the dc and dog will have mad chasing games around the kitchen table

Dd's just about to start going to a heelwork to music class with ddog and so is practising some moves in preparation

Basically anything which gets him thinking

Oh and Google 'sprinkles' - although depending on the mud levels in your garden this may not be feasible in winter

We have an old hand puppet which our Ddog loves so we play with that and hide it around the house for her to find. She does love fetch in the garden. We have a treat finding game which she is good at

And for xmas we have bought her an agility kit - just for fun but she is small enough to use some parts indoors in the wet weather.
Oh she also loves a ball tied in the end of a pair of tights!

My dog loves a tug of war with piece of thick rope/rope toy

Sometimes let her win.

It seems to tire her

Hide and seek. It takes practice but get him to stay in another room whilst you hide. Shout find me find me but stop shouting when he gets too close. Shout again if he goes off track. Give a reward when he finds you.

That sounds like ridiculously good fun cookie - appeals to my inner child

What does she do with a coconut?!?!

It's a garden patio game.
She bounces it around the garden until she smashes it up, takes hours. She spends a good amount of time shredding off the husk. I sometimes drill a hole so she can smell and lick the juice. Once broken i give her the coconut and get rid of the husk.

We play family hide n seek where we all have treats and hide in different rooms knowing who calls first etc If she finds you but you didn't call she doesn't get the treat.

Hide the cheese is a simple one to start. Stick the dog outside the room, hide the cheese cube and then invite them in saying 'werzthecheez, werzthecheez' in a goofy voice. DDog goes crazy for it!

I'm getting a coconut!

We play find the biscuit. Kids upstairs with dog (lab /cocker mongrel), we hide treats, he goes mental finding them. We hide them at different levels. If you don't mind them on your chairs / sofas, this is great.

Then we play dancing. Literally, dancing. Dog loves it if we all dance. Joins in.

But mine get most tired from training. the knackering throw and fetch, and "wait". Put a biscuit down, wait till he almost drowns in drool, etc. Even biscuit on head. You would think he would hate it, but he loves it.
