puppy doesn't like walking on our slippy floors

We picked up our gorgeous new puppy yesterday. She's a delight. She will walk around on rugs and carpets but freezes to the spot when she's on smooth floors. All of our downstairs is engineered wooden floors or smooth tiled floors and she sort of slips and slides and clearly doesn't like the feeling.

I wonder if anyone has any advice as to how to encourage her to walk on our smooth floors?

Are we going to have to have fully fitted carpets?

She'll probably get the hang of it soon. It's all new at the moment,
But what about a few very cheap rugs in key areas so stop her slipping a bit?

What breed is she? Our rough collie (and previous one) don't like smooth floors. At least the current one gets used to them and will walk on wood / tiles etc but our last collie hated it so much we had a trail of rugs making a pathway throughout the house!
Take your time - do not force her as it will make her worse. We stayed in a house at Easter this year with tiled floors. Pup at first refused to walk on the floors so we made him an island with his bed and blankets. Day 1 he stayed on his island. Day 2 front paws would come off. Day 3 back paws came off too. By end of week he would walk across the whole floor.
So patience really (and lots of rugs!)
Oh - you can get some wax stuff to put on their paws which makes it less slippery. Didn't work with our collies as they could see the floor was smooth so automatically thought it would be slippery and wouldn't try to walk. Might work with yours though.

TheSpottedZebra Thank you. It is very new. We just wondered if there was something we should be doing. We have spread out a few fleecey blankets so she can move around a bit.

haggissaggis - we aren't forcing her. And good news that it will likely resolve itself.

We had to use non-slip rugs with our old lab - our current pup loves the rubber tiles in our kitchen/living room as he's discovered the joys of sliding when he runs really fast

We have smooth floors in bedrooms and kitchen, carpet in living room. Our lab won't go in rooms with smooth floors (even for high value food treats!)

By jove she's cracked it. She had a big sleep. And woke up an entirely different puppy: adventurous, confident and absolutely fine with slippy floors.
