How can I help my dog? He keeps getting the last bit of his food stuck in the corners of his bowl!

Is there any solution to this or do I just have to keep unsticking it for him? Would a round bottomed bowl help? Is there such a thing as a round bottomed bowl?

Is he eating out of a square bowl at the moment?

My dog's bowls are all round.

No it's round, but the food gets stuck where the bottom meets the side and he struggled to get at it!

Bowls are cheap enough to replace. Buy a bowl where there is no side...or a dog with a pointier/sharper/chiselled shaped nose.

He can't get much pointier :o

How is he with using a spoon?

Maybe a flatter bowl would be better. I bought a flat cat bowl for my dog - some weird organic thing made out of rice husks, apparently - because she seemed unhappy with her bowls, that has a more rounded bottom - no seams where the sides join the bottom iyswim just a gentle curve - sounds like that might suit your dog better. Although having said that, you might find the food flies everywhere when he eats, anyway my dog didn't like that either.

And then after reading something on here about dogs' being frightened of their bowls because of their tags banging on the bowls whilst they're eating I removed her collar and thereafter she's eaten happily, which is not your problem I know, but just thought I'd explain why I bought the bowl in the first place:).

Okay, just seen the photo. Flat bowl is probably not going to work for him.

My dog has round bottomed bowls ,I got them at Disneyland Paris ,they have Pluto and lady and the tramp on them .

What about a large cereal/soup bowl?

I thought about a soup bowl or something but because he's tall, he struggles to eat off the floor so he has a raised feeder. I've seen round bottomed 'whipping' bowls on Amazon but they're £30-£40

Awww he's lovely! He deserves the bestest, roundest bowl you can find. Those IKEA ones look OK.

A pressed stainless steel dog bowl will not have an edge.

Could you use something like this, this or this and stand it on something for him?

The Ikea ones would be perfect if they had a lip so it could sit in his feeder (not an easy customer, am I?).

Not the best pic in the world but I'm in bed and can't be arsed to go and take a better one :o this is the bowl he currently uses, the lip around the top enables the bowl to rest in the feeder ring (you can just see a bit of the dull metal if the feeder in the pic) iyswim?

It would be a pita to try and find something to rest another bowl on. Plus we're rather limited in space...

If the bowl is wide enough it would only slip so far into the hole. Measure the circumference of the hole.

Or get a smaller basin type bowl and sit it in the original bowl.
