best dog nail clippers?

Since I got 2nd dog walks are mostly off road/path so nails aren't getting worn down so much. I've just tried to cut lab's nails and the clippers were useless, guillotine type with only one sharp edge so nail gets crushed rather than cut.

We've got guillotine type clippers and they're brilliant on my dogs' nails (labradors) - we've had them years. Sorry, I can't remember where we got them from! What about asking a local vet / pet groomer what they use?

Not much help I'm afraid but perhaps the bump will get somebody else's attention.

Cupcakes : we've got a lab puppy coming in the new year. I've looked at YouTube clips of claws getting trimmed and it looked as if they are rather brittle, breaking off unevenly. I'm looking into a grinder. Do your guillotine clippers make a clean cut?

Yes, never had a problem! One of my dogs has some deformity of one of her back legs and her nails grow up rather than forward, so need regular clipping - we've never had any trouble with the guilotine type. It must just depend on what type you get.

Thanks for the bump LetThere. I ended up getting lab's nails trimmed at the vets, cost £15 which seems a lot but worth it to see it done properly. Have ordered the nail clippers she used. Guilotine type but both edges are sharp so less chance of crushing the nail.
