what kibble do you think is best to feed and why?

This doesn't seem to have been done for a while. I am thinking about what adult kibble to feed ddog as she is getting to the age to move on from puppy food.

I also would rather it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

My too rated kibbles are cold pressed and very cost effective

I love Markus Muhle. (Normally around £35 for 15k)....this is a brilliant food.

Lukullus is quite good to but more expensive.

If it has to be dried extrusion kibble than I like Burns Alert and Barking Heads.

Anything with clears named ingredients with protein first and grain free will be good. Try a avoid foods with lots if beet pulp too and other sugary fillers.

We alternate between Eden and Bob & Lush. High meat content and grain free.

Dog seems happy and is always complimented on his condition.

Ddog is on Simpsons 80/20 puppy food atm, but it is rather pricy, and change in circumstances means I want to go for something cheaper. I had been wondering about Markus Muhle - or Gentle (as British so less CO2 from transport) but it is more expensive.

Ddog is on angell petco salmon and potato he is very happy on it and his coat is beautifully shiny. We always feed it dry as it stinks to high heaven when wet

I think it is horses for courses not every food suits every dog. Arden Grange Chicken rice suits my current dog not perfect as it contains rice, but it is what he does best on.

Ours have Skinners Field and Trial Salmon and Rice. Is about 27 or something for 15kg. It says it's designed for working dogs, which they are not. But big ddog is a rescue greyhound who was a scraggy mess with constant runs when we got him and is absolutely beautiful condition now, and no stomach problems.

I only buy Lily's Kitchen for Ted, dry and wet food. It's expensive but made from actual food and not full of crap. He is super healthy and loves to eat it.

Mine have Burns Pork and Potato (adult and puppy versions) as they need grain free and can't have turkey. We add wet food or sardines to it for variety, and to add fish oil from the tinned sardines

Mine is on wainwrights grain free with turkey...because grains don't agree with him and he's funny with some meats and fish and I can buy it easily.

Millie's Wolfheart - good quality British sourced human grade proteins that are grain, rice, beet, chicken, egg, adititive, gluten etc etc free. Excellent customer service. Lots of recipes 75/25, 70/30, 60/40, 50/50 to suit different tastes, requirements and exercise levels.

Approx £50 a bag, but lasts about 7 weeks with our 29kg labrador on 280grams a day (bulk buy deals available)

Mine have skinners field and trial salmon and rice. I also love barking heads but it is just too expensive for us. Other good ones are fish 4 dogs, I have heard amazing things about millies wolfhart. Sometimes I get lily's kitchen tins for a treat.

Millie's Wolfheart fan here. Ddog 1 isn't the least bit food orientated, infant had to be persuaded to eat, loves it. Pup was started on Orijen large breed puppy however I have recently changed him to Millie's and his poo is much firmer and less of it. He loves it too ( but he loves everything...even slugs )

It is easy to get and agrees with my dogs.

One dog has to have Royal Canin gastro intestinal. The vet just started her on it and we are still at the mixing it into her old food stage.

Can I ask about James Wellbeloved? We have always fed our girl this, it was heartily recommended by the vets and the rescue. She has thrived on it, she's almost 12 now and very healthy and sprightly. But I never see it mentioned in these types of discussions and I'm wondering if perhaps it wasn't as fabulous as we always believed. ...

I've used james wellbeloved at times when it suits me.

It's not got amazing ingredients...it's not a bad food, I mean it's pretty ok, but it's expensive for what's actually in it.

It's way way better than some of the awful foods you get, it's just that you can get similar or better for less money.

Ah ok, thanks tabulahrasa. So essentially it's pretty middle of the road....a bit like the James Blunt of the dog food world

I wouldn't recommend it as like I said there are better value better quality foods, but I wouldn't be looking to change it if it's suiting you and your dog.

But then I wouldn't recommend the food my dog is on either for similar reasons, given free choice I'd feed him a better food, but between the foods he refuses to accept are food and his stomach issues it's his choice rather than mine, lol.

Big Dog gets Skinner's Field and Trial, usually Maintenance but sometimes Muesli Mix. He does very well on both, and gets compliments on his shiny coat etc.

Small Dog is an itchy mess on a lot of foods, so she gets James Wellbeloved (I think I might research the cheaper alternatives...)

I will continue with the James Wellbeloved as it's always what she's known, plus it doesn't irritate her rather sensitive belly and she scoffs it down but if I get another dog after her I will be researching alternatives!

James Wellbeloved for Butch, our rescue Staffie, too. He had a troubled digestion when we got him, but JB has sorted that out. His coat is very shiny and when he went for his yearly check up this year our vet was very impressed with his general condition. Iis a bit expensive but I get it for a bit less with a repeating order on Amazon.
