What would dog owners' advice be?

I have to walk daily on a pavement where there is always trodden in dog poo across the pavement and its virtually unavoidable with small children. There is no path on the other side of the road or Id walk there with toddler and baby in pushchair.

How dangerous is old trodden in fouling and how would I deal with shoes that i suspect have walked over the trodden in waste but dont actually smell/ see faeces in the shoe - nothing?

I often call our local council but they dont act quickly enough

Please be kind and no, I dont need to see a counsellor about this as it is not a big issue.

I dont hate dogs (quite the opposite - my DCs love to see them) or owners, a genuine Q hence my post here.

Personally I would just take shoes off at the door and not worry any more. If you see any dog owners not picking up, I would point out to them it's illegal. As a dog owner, this makes me angry! Most dogs poo very regularly, so it's probably just one idiotic dog owner -if you can catch them, you need two witnesses to report it to council, I think. However, very little danger in terms of bugs and faeces. I suppose you could squirt anti bac spray on underneath of shoes if you are really bothered ( no need to wipe it off though).

Do you ever see people letting their dogs shit on the pavement? I carry poo bags (just value nappy bags) and delight in presenting people with one when I catch them in the act. No better way to shame them into picking up, and you can be sure they won't let it happen again because it's so embarrassing.

have seen a poor man lift it up from his driveway where it meets the pavement. another beautiful large house seems to get it by their gate a lot.

think it happens overnight and the school run mums/kids mustn't see it and trample it down/across the pavement. then i think people dont notice it but i do as ive watched the poo be trod over the pavement.

i have to say, i wouldn't challenge anyone as i literally live right on the doorstep of the dog walk area and id be paranoid that someone would see which house i live in and target me.

It is pretty revolting when people leave their dog's poo on the pavement. Oddly I have been thinking about it lately and it's not nearly nearly as bad as it was in the 60s and 70s when there was dog shit all over the place!

If it's anywhere between my front gate and the dog poo bin, 4 doors away, I pick it up, dispose of it in said bin, and clean the path down, if necessary, as I figure that's easier than cleaning it up off my carpet. I often have to scrub away bird poo, too, as we have overhead wires running down the street and massive sticky blobs of the stuff at certain times of the year, eg when birds are fledging or starlings are migrating.

Otherwise, I assume that any bit of pavement probably has dog poo particles on it and we don't wear outdoor shoes around the house.

In a neighbourhood near mine where there is a problem the local council put up large warning notices giving details of the levels of fines. (Fixed penalty 40 pounds) That relies on the owner being caught of course. The problem is now less although still happening. Can you co-operate with neighbours to try and find out? ("Spying" from behind the curtains if there is a clear view or even a group of you being out in the street). I know it's hard if you have little ones and are exhausted after they have gone to bed.

Have I got it right that you live near a school?

I do too. We had a spell when it was a problem and I called the council and pointed out that it was being stepped in by children and must be being walked into school. They were there to clean it up within the hour! And a new dog bin arrived within days.
