Dpup is being neutered tomorrow... How long will he be out of action?

He's a JRT, 6 months old. It's about 20 years since I last had a boy dog and I can't remember! I know my bitch was a bit slow for a couple of days then seemed pretty much back to normal - is it the same for boys, or quicker? Just watching him ragging around with big dog and wondering how I'm going to keep him still Grin

Both of my boys went in to the vets first thing and were home about four in the afternoon. They were a bit wobbly that evening but right as rain the next day.

Mostly mine have been pretty ok within about 24 hrs, I've kept them onlead for walks until after the stitches were out but otherwise normal.

Current dog though, swelled up like a couple of balloons, no infection or anything just bruised and sore...he was out if action for well over a week.

Thanks for the replies :)

I'm a bad puppy mummy as I got up this morning and fed him whilst still half asleep, before realising he needed an empty stomach for the op! Oops... He's got a couple of days reprieve and it's rebooked for Wednesday!

The younger they are, the less they tend to notice to be honest. Probably a bit wobbly the first evening, then back to normal next day.

That said, my boy is probably being done next week, but he's a proper wuss when it comes to pain or discomfort and I'm expecting a certain amount of diva behaviour from him afterwards. Hmm
