Got another dog today. A 10 week old girl puppy. Older dog is a 20 month old boy.

Overall they seem to be getting on well. We're making sure we fuss the older one loads but he's always loved other dogs so I'm not expecting problems.

He's air snapped at her a couple of times, mainly if she's gone for a toy. I am right in thinking this is normal isn't it? If he'd meant business he'd have done more than air snap?

In a few weeks time I will need to leave them for 2-3 hours a couple of days a week. There won't be a blood bath while I'm out will there?

I would get a cage and crate train her, at least then you'll know she's safe.
We have a 13 week old spaniel, our older Labrador has snapped occasionally to keep him in line, so I'm sure this is normal.

By using the cage, the puppy has the chance to retreat when he's had enough, but he also goes in and settles down if the older dog needs a break.

Tbh in your shoes I wouldn't be happy leaving them both together unsupervised.

Aah congratulations. I'm sure they will be fine but could you crate her to be on the safe side? Stop them getting up to mischief together when you are out.

Yes, we've got a crate which I can look out. Never managed to crate train older dog but hopefully with puppy been so young ill have more success.
