Cold dog?

I have a 7 month old pup, she is a quarter whippet (with staff, collie and German Shepherd) she has the body and fur of a whippet and I'm wondering, do you think she will need a jumper or something in the cooler weather?

It's chilly now at night, I sleep with the window open and as my cold harted dh doesn't let her on the bed I'm worried she's chilly on the floor. The past few nights she's slept curled up tight where as usually she sprawls.
Also she's reluctant to go outside in the cooler mornings and at night.
Not sure what to get her or if she even needs it? Any thoughts/suggestions?

A nice warm fluffy basket in your room with some blankets in?

She's got a nice cozy bed and a fleecy baby blanket to lie on just wondering if this is enough.
Dogs have always been in the bed before dh, and never had one with any whippet in it.
I've often seen these types of dogs in jumpers, would I know if my pup was cold?

Saw some lovely cosy housecoats and pyjamas on another thread made by a MN member (Scuttlebutter)
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/the_doghouse/a2172080-I-need-to-buy-a-coat-and-pyjamas-for-my-whippet
I love the look of them but I haven't got a whippet

I second the recommendation for ScuttleButter's coats. They can custom make too. I'm just about to order a custom made outdoor warm and waterproof coat for my non-pointy dog.

If she has a whippet fur and body fat, then she'll need a coat at night, and as it gets colder, an outside/rain coat too. Scuttlebutter (Milgi) does lovely fleeces and raincoats.

My older dog (pup has a bit more fur) persuaded me he needed his pyjamas on last night

Yes get her a lovely fleece coat from Milgi! Both mine have them to snuggle in when the nights get chilly. My staffie will bother me for hers to be put on!

She'll definitely need something to keep her warm at night over the winter. I have a scruffy Lurcher that has Whippet/Greyhound-like fur with a thin wispy layer of scruff over the top and zero body fat. He's already demanded we put on his night-fleece and has been wearing it for a few weeks now.

When he was a pup he'd wake in the night and shout at us if he'd managed to untuck his blanket - the big wimpy wuss. We bought him the fleece so we could get some sleep and peace re-descended on our household the first night we put it on him. Grin

My boy's fleece is from Milgi too - it's lovely and thick and really generously sized, so it keeps him bum warm even when he's curled up. Smile

Ok thank you. Will definitely have a look and get her something fleecy and warm... oooh doggy shopping my dh will be pleased... Not!

Another Milgi Coats fan here too :) my boy has 2 of their housecoats, they keep him lovely and toasty. They're really good as they have a high neck which keeps his neck nice and warm. They have such beautiful fleeces in all different colours and patterns too. If you want something custom made, give them a ring or an email. The lady that runs Milgi is so lovely :)

Gotta love doggy shopping! My boys collar is blood stained (he split his tail and splattered blood everywhere ) so his is ruined. So unfortunately I'll have to buy him a new one :o
