Microchip at second vacs?

So we have to decide before Friday.... Do we microchip dpup at her second jabs or wait until she's spayed? I'm leaning towards waiting as she was a right wimp with her first jabs Hmm.

Get it done! As she will be out and about after her second jabs, it will give you peace of mind. It's dead quick and mine barely felt it as it went in the scruff.

I was advised to wait because it hurts and increases their hatred of vets.

I had mine microchipped with his second vaccinations, he was fine, no issues and still loves the vet as there are cats there. Smile

Our dog barely noticed his being put in, but then he's very food motivated and the vet has treats.

My dpup is having her's done with the second jabs. Mind you she adores the vet andeverybodyelse

Our pup never even blinked when it was done, probably depends a bit on breed, ours is a lab with lots of loose scruff to put into.

Lonecatwithkitten · 16/09/2014 23:18

It does hurt some pups, but a big cuddle and pus forget fast. If you wait till neutering that is a minimum of three months when they could go missing.

ARightOldPickle · 17/09/2014 07:09

Our pup was done at second vacs too, no problem. We were warned that as it was a bigger needle she might find it uncomfortable but no, she far too busy gobbling up treats. She loves her vetGrin

SpicyBear · 17/09/2014 11:24

My pup was done at 9 weeks and it did not bother him at all. He's a skinny breed as well. The vets is still his favourite place in the world.

Some dogs can make it well past 6 months before first season and spay so I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with the risk of leaving them unchipped for so long, especially as you get out and about training a recall.

Dilemma over..... I was going to follow your advice and get it done, but they've had to change my appointment due to the vet having to go away suddenly with a family problem and can't fit it in this week. We decided it was better to get her vacs done this week, then make another appointment while I'm there.

Thank you for all your replies, I feel a lot better about it.
