Dog eating brambles/blackberries. Is this a problem?

I was picking brambles today and had my two year old Lab with me on the lead.

I thought she was nibbling the grass but eventually realised that she was scoffing down ripe brambles from the lower branches.

Does anyone know if they will do her any harm?

Shouldn't think so - my dogs have always done that. My cavalier is 11 and loves her walks at this time of year!

Thats good! She really seemed to be enjoying them!

I have one that does it. I just keep an eye to make sure he doesn't gorge himself to the point it would affect his poo but otherwise let him get on with it!

Mine goes blackberry picking too. And raspberries!

We have blackberry bushes in our garden and ours picks up and eats the windfall.

I just try and make sure she doesn't eat too many and get an acidy tummy.

Ah, makes me think of Oldgirl. She used to help herself to the blackberries coming through the fence from next door's garden. Even managed a few raspberries as well when their plant/bush got big enough.

I was fine with that, but we had to fence off the Greengage tree, as she'd eat them whole, stone and all and I was always worried about her getting an impaction. In fact, greedy mutt that she was, she'd go as far as to climb up the tree as far as she could to get to them.

Now we have Pip, he also loves Greengages, but eats them in a really delicate manner, holding them between his paws and nibbling the flesh off, leaving the stone behind. Wish I'd known that when he was a pup last year and I spent day after day fending off wasps while picking up stray windfalls and even digging up old stones/pits that had buried themselves in the grass and soil around the bottom of the tree.

He's always really well mannered and delicate with his food for some reason. Light years away from the starving pup we brought home last Summer. Back then we had to buy him a greenfeeder to slow down the way he inhaled every meal.

I have one that ignores the berries and nibbles the leaves

Mine picks and eats blackberries, raspberries, peas & beans. I have to keep her out of the veg plot! She's very careful though and doesn't damage the plants

Blackberries, damsons, fallen cider apples, plums are all on the menu for my 2 labs at the moment, to add to the usual delights of bits of dead sheep, sheep poo, chicken poo and horse poo. Revolting, the pair of them!

We have a fig tree in our garden.

It appeared to claimedbyme, but I suspect he ate up to 10?

He also managed to find the plums to. We know he had 7 of those as he did the most perfect poo of the stones, neatly tethered together like train carriages! .
