how to keep a dog temporarily out of part of the garden?

Our dog normally has free run in the garden. However, we're recently covered over a patch with plastic to reduce the weeds, and she keeps walking over it and ripping it / digging through it. Are there any good dog deterrents that will keep her off? I've tried putting vinegar on it which did nothing (in fact she followed me round licking it up Confused.

Temporary fencing is the only way I have ever found, a roll on chicken wire and stakes works for me.

As lonecat says, put up a temporary fence. Stakes and a roll of wire or the orange plasticky stuff.

Oh dear - I'm sure you're right, but not what I wanted to hear - due to the position and sized of the piece of land it will be a bit difficult. Can't use the orange plastic stuff - she bites through it - so will have to be chicken wire.
