Antihistamine for dogs

Over the last hour Fluffy dog has developed lots of raised lumps on his face, presume it's an allergy to something. He's scratching them. Can you give an antihistamine tablet intended for humans?

Yes.

My vet suggested I just buy over-the-counter anti-histamines for our dog when she got an allergy. We gave half a tablet per day (Cocker spaniel sized dog)

They can have piriton...but, there's one that's ok and one that's not and I don't know which kind is ok for dogs.

ring your vet.they can advise you on what meds are safe for your dogs weight and are usually ok with giving advise over the phone.

Thanks. Been to vets today and he's had a steroid injection. The vet said I would've been ok giving him Piriton tablets.

it's the ordinary piriton that is ok to give, not the non drowsy ones.
