Rehoming my dog

Hey I'm trying to rehome my dog. She's a staffy she's friendly and very good with children. We can't keep her as me and my partner are at work most of the day and it's not fair on her. We want her to go to a loving family.

Personally I would contact your local RSPCA branch. Or a Staffie rescue charity.

Carla I don't want to frighten you but you do realise that as there are so many Staffies in rescue they can be very hard to rehome and many of them just end up getting put down?

So please try and find a no-kill rescue for your girl, like Dogs Trust, you may have to wait a while before they take her but please be realistic about what will happen if she does to the RSPCA, Battersea or similar.

I don't know much about the RSPCA policy but Battersea only PTS for medical or behavioural problems that they don't feel can be rehabilitated . A friendly staffie could do a lot worse than end up in Battersea ,they do not PTS because a dog is taking a long time to find a home . That said I do agree that your dog is probably better off with you and perhaps a dog walker or some doggy daycare , I assume that your working circumstances have changed ?

Poor little thing. Like Mothership said the homes are rammed with Staffs.

Is there no family member or friend?

Have you explored dog walkers and daycare?

Unfortunately everything said is right. Rescues are heaving with unwanted staffies. There are not enough homes for them. Many healthy staffies are being killed every day for want of a home.

If you have no choice then do not use preloved, gumtree etc. Make a list of every single staffie and general rescue you find online and start calling.

Ditto other posters. There aren't enough loving families to go round for all the poor dogs in rescue. How many hours are you out? Not that it's really about the hours. Is she happy when you get home (and generally)? If you love her and spend lots of time with her when you're not working, and she sleeps a lot when you're out, then she may be much better off than being put in a kennel waiting for someone to love her ... or not.
