Hi, I have a German shepherd and she had come off her period about 3months ago but now seems to be back on. Should I be worried? Please leave comments

My dog always had a season every 4 months, give or take. 3 monthly would not be that unreasonable gap between seasons for her (she's too old for seasons now).

Spaniel thought, not German shepherd.

My dog has always gone off her food, been somewhat incontinent and generally unwell when she is just n season also.

That is not to say the OP should not get her dog to the vets to check she is ok. But I feel all of this nastiness towards OP is a bit unfair.

So she said period rather than season (and was corrected in first post), no big deal.

sammy90 · 05/07/2014 21:30

Thanks, she is always unwell in her seasons too but it's just that she normally twice a year in season and it is unusual that's why I posted this thread.

Good. If you know how to take her temp and it's in the normal range, then Monday is fine.

Suggest you make sure she doesn't dehydrate if she's got d&v though.

Yes thank you daisy.

I argued with DH for 4 years about getting our bitch spayed. He didn't want to as she has a slightly dodgy ticker and reacted badly to an op as a puppy so he was paranoid about her having a general anaesthetic.
However, it would have been much better getting her spayed when she was healthy though rather than in an emergency when she was already fighting infection. He admitted he felt awful for not getting her spayed sooner. I would really recommend it unless you are breeding from her.

I do want her done. But husband doesn't want it, like southpaws. But after all this I think it's about time he listened because he's always been in two minds of breeding her aswell. But it's not worth all this hassle.

I don't know if you are still about OP but I apologise for what I said and the way I said it. No excuse just a very bad day, drink taken and I was unnecessarily rude to you on the back of it and I do sincerely apologise.

Owllady · 08/07/2014 10:41

Temperature is fine and I took it from her arsehole
is making me wheeze :o

I would get her spayed. It's much easier you know. I didn't even discuss it with my husband

Owllady · 08/07/2014 10:41

I hope she is okay btw

ADishBestEatenCold · 08/07/2014 14:30

How's your dog, OP?

I hope that you not posting since Saturday just means you are busy and that nothing's gone wrong. It sounded as if your vet was quite confident about waiting, on Saturday, so hopefully all is okay, but I do know from experience just how quickly things can deteriorate, so am keeping my fingers crossed for you and your dog!

Good Luck, and let us know how everything is.

Hello everyone, just an update on my dog went to the vets yesterday, they vet checked her said she seems alright but have to take a sample from her stool and go back in 10days time to see the results. Toooldgiltter I'm still sorry I understand to as I was having a dreadful day too.
