Bits of chicken and gravy. Dog food. Cat food. Bits of left over dinner (yours!).

Do you find it amuses your dog for some time? I was thinking of getting one for our little dog.

I mix a tin of pilchards or sardines in tomato sauce with my dogs' usual kibble. Put a few bits of dry kibble in the bottom, then fill it up with the fish and kibble mix, squashing it down and getting as much shoe-horned in there as possible, then another layer of dry kibble at the top, topped off with some decent quality wet dog food. If you mix the kibble and fish the night before you can store it in a freezer bag in the fridge and you'll find you can squash more in because the kibble softens.

I freeze mine and it takes about 40 minutes for my younger boy to get all the way through one. (He's a big lad and has both L and XL kongs, the L takes him longer to eat though, as the top hole is smaller so he has to work harder.)

I occasionally do an egg one as a treat, they love that one and for some reason it takes longer for them to eat even unfrozen. Plug small hole with a piece of kibble or some soft food, drop in roughly half a kong full of kibble, break an egg into it and stir it round, then microwave on full for three one minute intervals, allowing it to rest in between. Be warned, it will puff up and out of the top/big hole to start with - you need to just squish it back in and press it down. Allow to cool and top with either some of the fish/kibble mix or some dry kibble, topped off with the wet dog food again.

I don't use peanut butter as the gas my two produce when they've had it is eyewatering Envy

Forgot to say - stand the kong in a cup to keep it upright in the microwave.

Ours is often kibble then cheese then peanut butter/ frozen if I have remembered. For bedtime kongs I put a bigger layer of banana in it as they're supposed to chill dogs out. Dunno if it works but stuffed kongs in her crate seem to relax her anyway Smile

I put fish paste in ours and the dig loved it.

Cheesy mash goes down well with my two
