Puppy barking early morning

Hello

The family I work for has an 8mth old Lab puppy. He barks non-stop from 5am until the parents go downstairs to go to work at 6.30, then starts again when they go out the door until I come down with the kids a bit after 7. He's loud enough that it wakes me up at 5 because my room's right above the kitchen where his dog door to the garden is. The house is long rather than square so the kids and parents can't hear him.

Any ideas on ways I can get him to stop? Many thanks.

Have you spoken to your employers about it? Only, given it's their dog and all.. :)

Sorry, that was the obvious one wasn't it I've mentioned to them that it hasn't abated (started when they first got him, used to be in evenings too but that's stopped) and then last week when he started doing it quite a bit earlier. They said they don't know how to help because they can't hear him doing it. Did say if I feed him later it might help? He gets fed just after 7.

I don't think feeding any later will make a difference, it's possibly because it's light around 5 am. Is he crated at night, a sheet over the crate should help. If not crated, can they make the room he's in darker? It's really normal for young children to wake up earlier in the summer and puppies can be like young children!
Possibly if you let him out for a wee at 5 he might go quiet again, there again maybe not!

Ooh that might be it about the light. He has a sort of cubby hole in the kitchen which goes back about 4 or 5 feet into the wall, but no blinds or curtains on kitchen windows. He usually conks out at about 7 or 8pm so I wonder if keeping him more active in the evening, another walk then maybe, would help him sleep longer in the morning?
He has a dog door that's open at night so full access to garden and prime weeing spots! :)
