Grooming noose

After my pup came back from being groomed, I noticed under his (very thick and very long) fur that there was a red ring on his skin around the neck. I'm guessing that this is because the groomer put him into one of those nooses, to hold him still.

When I prodded the red bit, my pup didn't flinch and it didn't seem to hurt him, but it can't be good can it?

This groomer is the one that everyone locally seems to think is best, and I found her very affectionate and dog loving in her attitude, but not sure what happens behind closed doors.

Is a mark from the noose normal?

My dog has a very close clip every 6 weeks ( comes out looking like a whippet) and he never has a mark on him .

Mine have never been marked. The noose is loose and just holds the fog in position. It shouldn't be tight. I'd tell the groomer.

Mine went for handstripping for 3 hours recently and no mark. I'd mention too I think.
