Today I went to a dog rescue

And I went on a walk and took one of their dogs
This week I have a home check and if I am approved I will be emergency fostering. Also can then take dogs for the day to get them out the kennels for respite
So excited!!!

What a lovely thread. I have my own pooch but I would love to do something like this. I'm going to pop into my local shelter.

It just makes me smile to see the dogs happy, but I enjoy doing it. We always had dogs when I was a child but I'm not in a position to have one now. This is the best of both worlds

Lovely photos of the dogs and they definitely look like they enjoy a day out I wonder if I could do this? I have a dog myself so assume would only be able to foster dogs that are ok with other dogs. Do the rescue need you to have lots of dog experience? (Thinking of another friend who might do this too) Do you or the rescue have to do anything to settle them back in when you return them or are they ok? Sorry for so many questions! I feel inspired!

Nope ask away, most rescues have an application form but the best way is to ring or pop in for a chat
Some rescues just need dogs walking or brushing, some need emergency fostering
Not loads of experience needed especially for just walking, the place I go to do group walks so you just borrow a dog and we all set out on a big walk together

And no, they all usually settle fine. I have them for a few hours or a day and just pop them back to the rescue afterwards
Other things they may need are vet runs or transport to move a dog, donations of old bedding and towels, toys, dog food....
