My nervous, sweet JRT has never shown any interest in leaving the house without me. I used to be lax about the garden gate, she would potter about but never cross the threshold (we have dog flap so she has ready access to garden).

Overnight she has begun flipping up the chicken wire with her nose and squeezing through the gap in a closed iron gate, several neighbours have knocked on my door to say she is out. At first I thought I was losing my marbles.

This pm after a 6K run with me she snoozed in my lap as I worked on my computer. Then despite reinforcing the gate she was off again. A neighbour knocked and I got her back.

After that she was scratching and whining and trying to get out again.

Am really confused. My dog has had a personality change! She is nearly 4!

Help!!!!! What is that about?

Has she been spayed? Some female dogs will go wondering if in season, if not then I have no idea. Sorry!

Could she have found something really great on her adventures? Food? Animal to play with? Or conversely has anything frightened her in the home That would make her uneasy staying in? I'm struggling to think of a good explanation!

In the meantime you will need to supervise her garden access.
