DDog1, nearly 12, border collie. He has arthritis and hip displaysia which he was on metacam for, however most recent bloods showed strange liver figures. So he's now on tramadol, and a liver pill (denamarin) and we'll re do the bloods in a couple of weeks.
However, this weekend he's suddenly gone very very lame on a front leg. He's never been lame on the front, and he's hopping lame whilst on tramadol. I rested him yesterday and today but he's if anything worse. Off to the best tomorrow obviously, but I'm really worried :(

sorry to read this. I hope things can be sorted with medication tweaking. Not much help I know but don't like to see these posts unanswered. will check in again tomorrow to see how you got on

Just seen your post. We'll keep everything crossed that a good rest does him good. It's so worrying when things aren't going right for our pets. Keep us posted and hopefully it's good news tomorrow.

Thanks both of you Flowers
He's even worse now it seems, just had to carry him to the garden to try and get him to wee. He's miserable :(

So sorry your dog is so poorly.
My Labrador is 13 today and has never had a day sick in her her life but old age has caught up with her recently. She can walk but running difficult, she has a huge swelling on her front leg which vets would not wish to investigate as she would be unlikely to survive an anaesthic, a cyst by her eye that never heals and is becoming incontinent with no.2's.
Luckily she has never been on any medication but I don't think she can potter about happily for that much longer.
It will be the saddest day ever and I cry even to think about it. DH & I have always said that we would not prolong an uncomfortable life but it is so hard. We have a bit more of the Summer with her I hope. It will be so painfully I am already thinking about another puppy as I will be lost without her.
Your dog sounds very sick. Take him to the vets and be guided by their advice. Think on the 12 good years.

how are things pseudo?

PseudoBadger · 20/05/2014 21:30

Sorry for not coming back sooner, thanks for asking. He's on metacam for 5 days to see if he improves, which he seems to be so far. I'll keep you updated :)
