does anyone else have or had a chihuahua puppy? night crying?

I have a nine week old chihuahua girl. We Just got her on Sturday, so still settling in to routines - so far really lovely. Last night she cried in her box (using a large box as a crate as we're house sitting til fri and crate is at home) for the first time. I took her out for another wee at midnight. She cried for twenty minutes before settling. She cried again at two and I took her out for another wee before popping her back, and it took a while for her to settle, but she did until 6 this morning, when she whined a bit and I took her out and she peed and pooed. She has a warm hot water bottle plus rugs and blankeys and fresh water in her box, and is next to our bed.

Obviously she's too small to have in bed, so I guess I'm looking for reassurance that letting her cry it out is the right thing to do, providing she's had all she needs...

Very few dogs, even puppies will soil the bed. If her needs are met, which at night are basically warmth, then she is most likely training you. By toilet ting her you are doing what she wants.
Are you still in contact with the breeder? Is it possible to rub a soft toy on her mum to put in bed with her?
Another really good one is DAP pheromone spray in the bed itself to create a happy place and enable settling.
I would advise against having her in bed, it will be a very difficult habit to break. Suggest settling and trying to go longer periods.
Most vet practices have nurses running puppy parties to aid with issues like this, and socialisation, check them out, or ask the vet or RVN for advice.

Thanks cuppa I should know what I'm doing really, as I'm a professional dog nanny and look after, train and walk lots of dogs everyday - but of course it's different when it's your own... I brought mum smelling blankets with me when we left the breeder (I am still in touch, but she's four hours drive away)

I'm not fussed about socialisation as she is going to be with me everyday at work, and I have a large client base, but I will definitely check out the classes locally, thank you.

seriously look into the Adaptil (sorry, put DAP, which was the old name),
well worth it; I would suggest using spray within the box since this is your only problem area, but you can get collars and diffusers too. I feel they are less appropriate in this instance though.
