Engraved metal dog tags

When I got my pup about 2 years ago, someone on MN recommended a good website to get an engraved dog tag, at about £1.99ish inc postage.

Of course, I've lost the website details and we are about to lose our third tag in two years because the metal wears away with all that mad Springer leaping.

Any suggestions?

We had one done on a machine in Pets at home. Think it cost £2.99.

I've just got two from ebay, I think they were £1.99 each, and arrived next day. Got fed up paying £6 a go everytime she lost hers!

Aked · 14/04/2014 18:01

Don't know how long they will last before wearing out though.....

www.indigocollartags.com are absolutely fantastic - I have four of their collars and can honestly say they are the best I have ever had. Got SO fed up of losing tags Grin

I second Indigo... Another bit of excellent advice from MN... And no jingling!

Yes they, and those BCBG linked to look like a good idea. just not sure I could fit one on her pretty collar! I've lost three already though, and the dog isn't even a year old yet so those might be the way to go.

We get ours from ebay. Not had any problems and they often come within 48 hours.

WheresRyder · 14/04/2014 18:15

eBay here too.

Cheap tags can be a false economy, the engraving is so shallow that it soon becomes unreadable and as you've found they wear through at the ring.

I have some deep engraved ones from here, both plastic (doesn't jangle!) and metal which are four years old and still as good as new. Anything new gets embroidered instead - I ordered a job lot of embroidered laundry/name tape type labels which get superglued on to collars and harnesses and new collars with phone numbers on are from here.

I have a lovely purple collar and pink slide on tag from here

Has saved me a fortune.

WeAllHaveWings · 14/04/2014 20:17

A third for indigo. We've got the open end tag so it fits on the nylon collars that have clasps on both ends and cant use a slide on tag.

Had it 6 months after loosing 3 tags in in previous 6 months. It also doesn't catch in anything, jangle, and has lots of room for your name, address and tel no.

Floralnomad · 14/04/2014 20:28

Amazon have some nice sparkly ones that are about £3 including p&p.

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 14/04/2014 21:29

Thanks everyone - all good suggestions, and I suppose I've already learnt 'buy cheap buy twice' in the dog tag world.

I'm going to get an Indigo tag - I'm ridiculously excited.

Aked - I ordered the collars with the tags to fit as that was easiest and simplest and I wasn't seduced by the lovely range of colours one little bit, oh no

beachyhead · 14/04/2014 23:14

Nor me BCBG ( one purple and one red)!!!!Grin

Lanabelle · 14/04/2014 23:27

I just get mine off ebay, Mine is a working springer so she doesn't actually wear hers a lot but occasionally if she is out in public rather than the field she will have a collar on with a tag
