puppy paternity leave??? how long?

im lucky enough to work for myself, we will be getting a new pup in june (fingers crossed) as it is i mainly work from home (mobile/home based hairstylist and nail tech) when we get said pup i intend to take two full weeks off then slowly back to normal hours but even back to full time would only mean me being away from the house for 2.5hrs at any one time do you think two weeks is enough? once the summer hols are here i will be off again for 6weeks (i'll work evenings instead) and i do realise that leaving a pup means inevitably there will be accidents etc

I'm no expert but have Eric who is ten weeks which is as old as I assume your puppy would be when you went back to work. I can't conceivably see how I could leave Eric for 2.5 hours now. We have a crate and a playpen but he toilets every 30 minutes or so, poos 4 times a day, feeds four times a day, needs company the majority of the time only goes in the crate whilst we eat and in the playpen so I can go upstairs without him.
How will you toilet train him when in 2.5 hours he will probably need taking outside four or five times? Eric cries pitifully in the playpen even if I'm gone for ten minutes will your neighbours complain? Eric is really good at night time sleeping through from 11 til 6 but I think many don't at ten weeks what if you get no sleep?

Again, no expert. Husky is my first puppy as our 'dog history' is rescues.

He's 8 weeks, the only way to describe it is like having a newborn. I work in a stressful job, DH is SAHP. Dh is shattered when I get in.

Constant feeding, toileting and training. He needs out through the night. I'd take as long as you can, early days with any dog is important. Your chance to train and set rules.

Good luck, it's rewarding and exhausting.

No, I was gutted when he called his son Eric though
I have five children and tbh I find looking after Eric far more difficult and time consuming and draining than I ever did having a baby. He's like a toddler on speed much of the time tbh
