That's it really - he's my PFP and I just feel really nervous... He's so lovely and happy and I don't want his character to change (could live without the humping though Hmm)

Any tips to make the op and recovery easier for him (and me?)

I had my 7mth pup done week before last and he was moping about the evening when I picked him up from vet and the next day but after that he was back to his normal self. He had internal stitches so didn't need the buster collar and only occasionally licked the wound. My friend had her dog done last week and he is exactly same as before the op too. The worst part was no off lead walks for ten days, my pup was so full of energy so lots of long walks round the block were needed!

We had our lurcher done at 12 months, and apart from hating the cone (which he had for 2 full weeks as they sorted his dew claws, which had been partially removed before he was rescued) he was fine, and didn't show any signs of being in pain

I'm going to ring the vet's about having Finn done, was going to do it at six months but life has been a bit busy and he's not cocking his leg all the time yet but he will be done as soon as the vet advises. I had my previous two bitches spayed before their first seasons with no problems so I don't have any qualms about neutering this one. He's not afraid of other dogs and well socialised so hope it won't cause any issues.

Thanks for the reassurance

You didn't upset me moose - in fact the apbc vet's info was v useful and made me feel a bit more confident I'm doing the right thing
