Hi we have an elderly German Shepherd unspayed bitch. She is approx 12-13 years. In the last few months her eyesight has deteriorated and she is sleeping a lot more, she also seems to pant a drool a lot more for no reason but this isn't all the time its only occasionally (i maybe see her doing it once or twice a day). She has always had a very sensitive tummy and came back from kennels yesterday with diarrhoea a few scrapes on her nose and a bloodshot eye :( She also has horrendous smelling farts! Much worse than usual. She was in season the week before she went to kennels and is still bleeding a bit now which seems quite a long time and is frequently licking her back end, also seemed to be sitting awkwardly on her first day home from kennels but this seems to have stopped now.

Is all of this just old age and the inevitable happening sadly ? Do you think she is in pain with any of this? thanks

If she has been in kennels, she is just as likely picked up an infection. Get her checked out by your vets. Did the kennels say anything when you picked her up? The eyesight deteriorating and sleeping more is a sign of old age but the other stuff not necessarily. Hope she's OK.
