Dirty chops!

Pizpup is a daxie x and the groomer gives him a very sweet little beard (like wire haired daxies would have, afraid I don't know if it has a proper name!) It looks fab bit gets so grubby in his food, dirty water, mud etc and of course it's his least favorite body part to have washed.

Does anyone with a beardy dog have any tips for keeping them clean and neat between grooms? Would love not to spend evenings picking mud out of his face!

Thanks!

My Patterdale x is very beardy and I just have it clipped off when he has his haircut every 6/7 weeks . Originally I used to get them to leave the beard but its much easier without it although he is happy to have his face washed ,teeth cleaned etc .

Thanks guys, maybe I just have to be a bit more disciplined about giving it a clean and each day! I can't bear to have it clipped off floralnomad I'm too much of a sucker for his little beardy face!

That's how I felt for about the first year , when he went to the dog wash last week I had him shaved closer than ever before and although he looks like a totally different dog its much better for him as he is back to 2/3 off lead walks a day rather than 1 as he is so much easier to clean up afterwards .
