Puppy diarrhea

Hello,

I'll start this by saying my previous pup died at 9 months, so I'm hyper paranoid about my new boy.

My pup is 13 weeks old.

Today my parents have been over and he has had more treats than normal, so I suspect his upset belly is due to this.

He has twice this evening, about 2 hrs apart, had very watery diarrhea, he is drinking water and is now asleep next to me (this is usual behaviour for this time of night). Before this he was playing/running around.
I've stroked his belly and he hasn't flinched at all.

I'm planning on starving him till about 9 tomorrow morning and then give him a small (half a breast) of boiled chicken, then I'll keep him on this for 3 days and slowly introduce his normal food. I will take him back to the vet if his poo isn't getting more solid in 24hrs.

Please tell me I'm doing the right thing, or what else I should do.

I'm very stressed and considering setting my alarm for every couple of hrs to ensure he is ok :(

We don't starve any more and in particular we don't starve puppies as they become hypoglycaemic very quickly.
In general the fastest thing that gets the guts back to normal is feeding regular food.
So a puppy with diarrhoea who is otherwise bright and normal I would continue to feed as normal.

Ok, we'll he's asleep now in his crate, he's not been again (has passed water and is still drinking ok).
Will feed him in the morning at 7 as normal then.
Do you recommend his normal kibble? Normal amount? Or would bland chicken be better?

Normal food equals normal gut fastest.
If you feed chicken and rice you get the gut accustomed to that then 'upset' it again by changing to kibble.
