He's 10 months old. House training has been sloooooooow. He doesn't like the cold, or the dark, or rain. I am vigilant about putting him outside regularly. He seemed to have got it, even tapping on the back door to let me know he needed to go out. Yet today, he has left two lakes of wee in the kitchen and whizzed rather impressively on the hall rug with no indication that he needed to go out. His wee smells a bit strong, but he's showing no signs of pain or illness. Is he trying to drive me batshit do you think? Or is he just thick as mince?

You say you put him outside regularly, do you stay with him to make sure he goes? I still have to stay with my 1 yr old GSD as he gets distracted chasing birds etc and needs reminding to wee before he comes back in.

I do. Or, I stand and watch him from the door going all high pitched and annoyingly happy with the praise when he does pee. I think I'll have to go back to putting him outside hourly

We had the same with a 9 month old. It must be the age.

My three month old is quite good. I take him out regularly and he walks up to the door and looks back if he needs to go out so I have to be observant. I have a flap in the kitchen and he goes outside himself for poo but he's not quite there yet with peeing.
