Hi my dog seems healthy but isn't eating, not really interested in the children and favourite toys etc., Will eat a treat sometimes but no dog food - in fact he's only had a few grammes of dried food in the past 72 hours.

But its the wandering and not settling that is worrying me - sometimes he just stands and stares at something, other times he paces back and forwards in a long loop. He spent most of today standing up staring, ignoring his favourite bed and blanket etc, wouldn't even take a snuggle on the furniture.

Has anyone else experienced this "wandering"? If he was an old dog I would say its a form of dementia but I feel its connected to not eating.

He needs to be checked by a vet, sooner rather than later. He may look healthy but its not normal for a dog to stand and stare for most of the day. Dogs can be in pain and not show it.

Get him to the vet asap.

I would say such a sudden change in behaviour needs properly investigating. It can be very hard for us to tell when dogs are in pain, as they often don't show the signs we'd expect. Loss of appetite and restlessness could well be signs that he's either in pain or some other form of distress and definitely needs checking by a vet.

Definately a vet. Could be something like an inner ear problem, or something even less serious, or could be something worse and needing attention.
