Dog wretching/heaving

Have just taken our black lab out for a walk in the woods and suspect he has eaten something…no surprise.

Now we are home he is "heaving" a lot.

Should I worry or will the offending item make an appearance later today?!?!

If he seems like he has something stuck I would take him down the vets.

Dry heaving would worry me more that vomiting.
Ring the vet, see what they say.

Could it be a dry cough? my dog started off making heaving noises when he had kennel cough.

Thank you for your kind responses. He has been out in the garden a bit today (quite large and rural!) and come back in looking sorry for himself but no more heaving. I think he has probably brought up the offending item and has gobbled up his supper…

Any change tomorrow and I will call vet.

Thanks again.

To be on the safe side, familiarise yourself with the symptoms of bloat - it's easily googled. Hopefully you won't need to use the knowledge, but if you spot any of the symptoms do not delay getting veterinary treatment by even a second.
