What to do when spending Christmas at someone else's house

We are spending Christmas day at the ILs. We are also bring our 1yo beagle.
The family love him and are looking forward to it but I feel nervous as he is very excitable and there will be kids there with exciting toys for him to try to steal!!

Then there is the dinner.

Just wondering what others do as this is our first Christmas with a dog. Any tips/advice welcome!!

We are taking our lurcher to the ILs on boxing day. He'll have a really good exercise before we go, then we are taking his folding crate with us and he can snore in there for a few hours plus a lead walk (my excuse to escape for a bit)

We are also going for a long walk and taking the crate and toys/treats. Hopefully he won't be too crazy!
