We are thing of getting a second dog. We already have a 2year old miniature jack Russell and are thinking of getting a Japanese Akita pup they will be ready in 4weeks.
We have had our jack Russell from a pup and have trained him no problem. We have the time, energy and money to get another dog.
I am looking for advice on how the dogs will get on or if they would at all?
We are happy to not get the new pup if it would be too much for our current dog or if these breeds are not compatible.
Any advice from anyone with experience if getting a new dog with one already in the house would be great thanks!

Please do look at the Kennel Club website and search on Breed Characteristics. It says the Japanese Akita Inu "although very loyal and faithful to his family is not the dog for everyone. Very in independent in character, sometimes to the point of stubbornness and is not particularly sociable with other dogs. The males tend to be dominant "
Getting a puppy is easier than introducing a grown dog to a household already containing another dog. Just be certain what you want and do your homework also don't ever buy a puppy because it is available when it is convenient for you. Be prepared to wait as long a necessary for the right dog. I have kept v big dogs, similar in character to the beautiful Akita and you have to know what you are doing. Hope this helps, good luck.

Cookie thanks for the advice I did a bit of reading on the Akita there and think that they may not be the best breed to fit with our family and the dog we already have.
We'll do a bit more research into breeds before choosing another dog
Thank-u!
