Dog pissed on shoe

Just hoping you will tell me it's a one off.

Day before yesterday I was out with my dog when a little JRT came over to say hello and cocked his leg against my boot while I wasn't looking Only a driblle of wee got me.

Then yesterday, my dog sniffed the boot, casually cocked his leg and pissed on it. And my kitchen cupboard. IT WAS ON THE KITCHEN FLOOR AT THE TIME.

He is a neutered, healthy 2.5yo collie. Was he just marking my boots as his territory? Please tell me he isn't going to start pissing in the house - he hadn't asked to go out or anything.

Bloomin' terriers! I speak as someone whose JRT used to have an unfortunate habit of pissing on random picnic hampers.

However, I doubt that your dog will start pissing in the house. Instead, I think you'll find that from the evidence he could smell, he temporarily assumed that your boot was a dog toilet! Just clean your boots with a solution of biological washing powder and all should be OK.

I didn't mind too much about the jrt, I was in a field in the wet and mud and it was just one of those things

I've got a terrier ( patterdale x) and he pees on anything that is stationery ,can be quite embarrassing in the summer if any children have left bikes or jumpers laying on the field .

our other dog is a Patterdale mix massive character in a very small hound.
