moronic question. do ogs really "get a taste for blood"?

My mil poor friend was very badly attacked by a dog recently. She was out walking her dog and another dog was out unattended, there was a bit of a scrap and mil s friend got bit, bled, she let go of her dog so it could run off. The other dog chased but then turned and came back and attacked the lady, really badly, she was hospitalised. My mil said they have told her friend it came back for her because it had got a taste for her blood!
I thought that was an out dated thought, she is convinced not
It was guard trained, she says that makes a difference does it?

No, I shouldn't think.so...otherwise my raw fed dog should be a murderous killer by now but he is soft as a brush! More lilkely the dog eas in a hyped up, agressive, agitated state I should think.

Absolutely not.

As fanoftheinvisible man said the dog was hyped up, agitated, aggressive and possibly trained to attack humans (if poorly guard trained). It either couldn't catch the other dog, so went for the more vulnerable, easy target instead or acted based on it's so-called guard training and attacked the human for that reason.

I am so sorry to hear this, what a truly horrible thing to happen. I do hope your MIL's friend is ok.

Did they catch the dog that did it?

Mil friend was really badly injured, I don't want to say how as the forum is public but it has really hurt her :( and she is not young anyway iykwim
Fortunately, seems weird to use that word, but someone heard her screaming and phoned an ambulance and the police and the dog was euthanised immediately
